Video Codec SW Engineer

The Xilinx Data Center Video team is looking for a Video Codec Software Engineer.

Video Codec Software Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing algorithms for video encoders
  • Designing, developing, coding, testing, and debugging software
  • Performing video quality assessments of internal and external video encoding solutions

Job brief

We are looking for a professional Video Codec Software Engineer to be working with the Video algorithm group team to improve and develop new video encoding algorithms. This will often involve a development of support tools and scripts, a video analyzer for instance. An important part of the job will include Video Quality reviews.


  • Design and implement video encoding algorithms
  • Design, develop, code, test, and debug video encoder reference models
  • Review code and design
  • Development of Video support tools and scripts
  • Interface with hardware and firmware teams implementing the video algorithms

  • Proven working experience in software engineering
  • Master's or BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with compressed video formats (H264, HEVC, AV1, …)
  • Knowledge of video processing
  • Solid programming experience in both C and C++
  • Experience with Linux and Windows development environments (Visual Studio)
  • Experience with GUI application development
  • Basis knowledge of scripting (batch, phyton, …)
  • Familiarity with source control and defect tracking tools
