As part of the ambitious and new software strategy formulated recently by our CEO and CTO, Xilinx is deepening its commitment to open source. For this reason it is important to add a Principal Engineer to the Open Source Office to help develop and run the fledgling initiative inside of Xilinx. A central Open Source Office, reporting to the CTO, is the designated place where open source is supported, nurtured, shared, explained and grown inside Xilinx and in the Xilinx ecosystem. The Open Source Office supports Xilinx businesses to establish and execute on their open source strategies in clear terms, giving the leaders, developers, marketers, and other staff the tools they need to make open source a success within their operations. As a Principal in the Open Source Office, this candidate has to overlook and streamline all aspects of the company’s open source processes in cooperation with the R&D groups, Business Units, Marketing and Legal functions.This candidate has to represent Xilinx at important external organizations and events and has to be the custodian of the Xilinx reputation in the external open source community. The objective is to establish Xilinx as a high-contributing member of industry leading open source initiatives.
