CTO Design Engineer

Development and Validation
  • Performs design entry and basic design optimization
  • Writes RTL and testbenches according to functional design spec
  • Performs design validation to assure quality before delivering to partners (e.g Verification, Integration, SW, Holistic)
Development Process
  • Demonstrates competency with relevant design tools specific for FPGA design, including proprietary and industry standard tools
  • Understands and demonstrates proper use of Xilinx design practices and methods

PPG Design Engineer

Design Requirements Assessment
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of FPGA architecture
  • Exhibits solid understanding of how the requirements process and inputs guide design decisions
  • Builds understanding of factors that influence requirements and feasibility decisions (e.g., features, time-to-market, required resources, and technical capabilities)
  • Demonstrates understanding of how design implementation helps determine the viability of product features when weighed against costs

Compliant Design Implementation
  • Has clear knowledge of the deliverable and task expectations and leverages the work of the group to learn best practices, and identify skill-building opportunities
  • Applies fundamental technical capabilities to accomplish design implementation tasks (e.g., debugging, digital and analog design, circuit design, RTL signal flow, basic TCL coding, and timing tool basics)
  • Adheres to the requirements of version control and tracking established by the team
  • Documents designs and maintains existing design documents

  • Applies fundamental technical capabilities to accomplish design implementation tasks (e.g., digital and analog design understanding, circuit design, RTL signal flow, basic TCL coding, timing basics)
  • Strives to become an expert in group design practices, including design architecture and tool flow
  • Adheres to the requirements of version control and tracking established by the team
  • Documents designs and maintains existing design documents
  • Practices implementation strategies that reflect efficiency, specification compliance, and, in general, valid justification for all design decisions

Iterative Component Verification and Validation
  • Develops knowledge of best practice verification methods (e.g., stability analysis, STA, IR drop)
  • Systematically sets up simulation and verification control files that ensure accurate component compliance to specification objectives and proposed timelines (e.g., size, power)
  • Actively contributes to design reviews and verification of compliance to specification exercises
  • Tests and troubleshoots design prototypes using iterative verification to ensure functionality and compliance to specification metrics
Process Adaptation and Optimization
  • Builds solid understanding of Xilinx's approach to systematic design and testing
  • Actively monitors Xilinx and industry communications for evolving design methodology practices and changes in approach
Verification and Validation
  • Develops understanding of best practice verification methods (e.g., System Verilog, coverage tools, STA, FV)
  • Works to understand protocols and standards associated with products
  • Codes, debugs and runs test cases according to a defined test plan
  • Systematically sets up simulation and verification control files that ensure accurate component compliance to specification objectives and proposed timelines (e.g., size, power)
  • Actively contributes to design reviews and verification of compliance to specification exercises
  • Tests and troubleshoots design prototypes using iterative verification to ensure functionality and compliance to specification metrics
Design Enablement (Tools/System/Practice)
  • Builds capabilities for using the key tools used in design implementation and verification
  • Builds capabilities on the design practices and methods used at Xilinx (e.g., verification tools and techniques, silicon debugging tools and techniques, circuit simulators, data convertors)
  • Exercises understanding of the FPGA environments, and the tools most appropriate for achieving task objectives (e.g., getting the clocks to work)
  • Knowledge on Universal Verification Methodology and Open Verification Methodology
  • Develops expertise in using key tools used in design implementation and verification.
  • Builds capabilities on the design practices and methods used at Xilinx (e.g., verification tools and techniques, silicon debugging tools and techniques, simulators, data convertors)
  • Exercises understanding of the FPGA environments, and the tools most appropriate for achieving task objectives (e.g. timing closure)
Requirements Assessment
  • Basic understanding of FPGA architecture
  • Basic understanding of how FPGA features will be used by customers
  • Good understanding of assigned block functionality

Education Requirements

Bachelors or Masters Degree

Years of Experience

2+ years of experience in Physical Design.

Automation a must and good analytical skills are needed.
