Job Description

 

Xilinx is looking for a talented individual to join the DFE Technology team in the position of RF Design Engineer. This team develops high performance and low cost digital front end (DFE) Radio designs for 5G base stations and DOCSIS RemotePHY applications with Xilinx’s unique RFSoC and Versal products and influences future device architectures. As RF Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on entire life cycle of RF board specification, design, development and system testing, with a strong focus on Digital Pre-distortion (DPD) which is critical to Xilinx’s growth in sub-6GHz and mmwave 5G and cable communications applications. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for various facets of board design process including board specifications, PCB design, schematic creation, RF performance optimization and board/firmware bringup of sub-6 GHz and millimeter wave (mmwave) RF boards including MIMO solutions
  • Assist with DFE system tests of RF boards with Xilinx SoC/ACAP evaluation boards
  • Responsible for providing the design guidelines to the layout engineers for the RF circuits, clocking circuits, RF sampling ADCs and RFDACs and mixed signal circuits
  • Create internal and external facing detailed documentation (design documentation, test specifications, test reports, user guides, etc.)

Technical Skill Requirements

  • BS with 8+ years or MS with 6+ years or PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related equivalent
  • Demonstrable expertise in RF/Analog/Mixed signal boards design, schematic creation and PCB layout
  • Experience in board-level and firmware debugging.
  • Excellent experience in characterizing and testing RF circuits, analog circuit and ADC/DACs working in multi GHz frequency range
  • Hands-on knowledge of PCB design tools (OrCAD, Allegro, PADS)
  • Hands-on experience for RF test equipment (e.g. spectrum analyzers and network analyzers, load pull, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of wireless communication system
  • Excellent analytical and debug skills with attention to details
  • Require strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge on RF production level test is preferred.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB, Python and/or rtl/C language is desirable
  • Circuit simulation skills utilizing ADS/HFSS/ Cadence Analog/RF Option/AWR or other RF simulation software is valuable
  • Prior experience with LDMOS/GaAs/GaN Power Amplifiers (PA) and RF module design is valuable
